Taking Customer Satifaction To A Whole New Level

By Hawks Nest - Posted on 16 February 2010

The town of West Forks, Maine has come together in a whole new way. Situated at the intersections of major east-west and north-south ITS trails, we see a lot of traffic on in-town trails as well as the river trail. Due to Mother Nature's lack of cooperation with fresh snow, the heaviest traveled trails are taking it hard. But NO MORE!! The West Forks community, the fire department, and our local businesses have banded together to make it snow!! Snow making guns and hoses have been borrowed from Sunday River Ski Resort, the West Forks Fire Department lent pressure pumps and hoses and along with equipment rented or purchased by The Hawk's Nest Lodge and Restuarant we made it snow. Fuel has been donated by the local general store and snowmobile club and community members have volunteered long, hard manpower hours for the job. The snowmaking crew has laid down 6-12" of fresh snow down The River Trail and along ITS 86 at the road crossing. The need for low winds and low temps has made overnight the best time to make snow. To keep our crew's moral up, lots of food and gallons of coffee have been donated by local restaurants & Berry's Store.
The Hawk's Nest Lodge is committed to making the snow stay with us to give our guests the most enjoyable and very best experience possible. We are proud to be part of this effort to help make every visit to our town great.
